New Mexico has adopted the federal regulations for hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) in general industry workplaces by reference (11 NMAC 5.2.9).

The New Mexico Environment Department/Occupational Health and Safety Bureau administers and enforces workplace safety and health rules for private and public sector workplaces in the state.
